As a surfer in the city, one often finds themselves feeling a bit like a fish out of water. The awkward smirks, glares and giggles while riding the subway. Or the loud questions from fellow city slickers on the street who scream, “Where you goin surfing – the river?”. They clearly don’t realize they are in fact living in a coastal city. Whether intentional or not, photographer Romain Laurent captures the essence of this self conscious feeling that so many of us urban surfers have felt perfectly in his latest collection of work entitled “L’Horizon”.
